 Welcome!

April for me is Tax Time and the perfect opportunity, while I have my documents in front of me, to organize my taxes and update my personal estate information.

I am always looking for tips and resources on items I should include in my estate contact file in case I am no longer available to ask; as well as formats to simplify the process of reviewing, editing, and updating my personal information.

I was excited when I found the book authored by Abby Schneiderman and Adam Seifer titled: In Case you get hit by a bus – How to organize your life now for when you’re not around later.

Abby and Adam’s book is an excellent comprehensive resource with easy-to-use charts of comparisons of optional methods, including today’s digital world, which include pros and cons as well as offer solutions.  They cover the steps to take in the following areas of life:

1.      Level 1 – Start with your stuff – passwords, people, money and your abode.

2.      Level 2 – Assemble the pieces - Trust, Wills, Health Care, and your digital items.

3.      Level 3 -- Finishing touches - memorabilia, letters, funeral planning, and obituaries.

What I especially liked was the books format – organized simple fact-based information and use of comparison charts which allowed me to target areas I wanted to work on and not have to read the entire book.

Extremely helpful are the resources at the end of the book named:

1.      “Resources which included contact websites” of vendors, organizations and institutions one might be interested in contacting and

2.      A “Plan of attack check list”.

Wishing you all a smooth tax and estate planning season!

Looking forward to meeting you over a cup of coffee and conversation!
